You Belong to Me

Make-up girls! I have just stumbled upon a thrilling cosmetic discovery

Colours: #86 - A Lovely Secret, #53 - You Belong to Me
Since I am currently gorging on deep dish pizzas in Chicago, my fellow brunette and best friend has agreed to write this post. More to come from this beauty guru so stay tuned! - Emi

While at my local Shoppers Drug Mart, off to the side of the brand-name products we all know and love, I spotted a colourful little stand. I immediately rushed over, drawn to its tiny little nooks filled with its tiny little beauty gems.

Whaaaa? Ok, now THIS was worth investigating. The brand? ESSENCE

Essence is a German-based brand that hit the NA market this month. It is one of the biggest brands in Europe and has won multiple awards for its motto of high quality and low cost (despite its grass-roots marketing).

You Belong to Me - $1.49
I purchased two nail polishes to test them out. I am happy to report that Essence’s motto holds true! The bottles are little (5 ml) but I was able to wash dishes for a whole hour without one single chip. Impressed.

I look forward to trying out more products from the line and reviewing them for you guys but in the mean time, go check them out!

Golden Touch

Hope you had a great weekend!

Today I thought I would put something together that was all one colour.
And of course I had to pick beige right?

Ok, I get it, beige is extremely dull...but I also think it can look very timeless. I used to think that beige didn’t really flatter my skin tone and I always steered clear from this colour but I think I found a way to make it work.

In order to keep things interesting, I played with texture, tones and added items that had a little sparkle. I used beige items that specifically had a gold sparkle or a gold hue which works well with people who have warm undertones like me.

I think a bright purse would add a little pop of colour to an otherwise monotone look but I think this look works well on its own as well. Love to know what you think,

African Safari

So…I’ve been bad. Ok, let me explain the back story. At the end of last year, my shopping got a little out of hand….ok, a lot out of hand. So my New Years resolution was to not shop at any retail stores for 2012. Basically, I was only going to allow myself to shop at thrift stores or warehouse sales. Of course, not a single person had confidence in me and I was convinced that I was going to prove them all wrong.

So when I heard that Jason Wu for Target was coming to Toronto two months into the New Year, I had to break my resolution. And I did. (PS. so completely worth it – previous entry here). Here’s the problem, once I fell off the wagon, I fell really hard. And I haven’t stopped shopping since. SO…long story short. I’ve made several online purchases…
including these little gems.

Aren’t they beeeauuutiful?! I have a safari theme going on here. I don’t own anything like these and I think they will make a great addition to my wardrobe. I had them shipped to my office and the items have been coming in slowly over the course of the week, so its been like Christmas every day. My coworkers think I should join shoppers anonymous…so now is probably a good time to get back on the wagon.

I hear by swear, I will not shop for the next couple of months…
unless of course, there is another designer-retailer collaboration…
or until I find a really good deal…
ok fine, don’t hold your breath.

Thanks for following and happy shopping!

Pink Sunset

Hi! And welcome to my blog. For my first post I thought I would write about my first experience purchasing from a designer-retailer collaboration. Like many other girls on the day of the Jason Wu for Target launch, I was super disappointed when the collection sold out in a matter of minutes and was selling for 3X the price on eBay.

So almost a month later, when my co-worker told me that the collection was coming to Toronto for one day only as a pop-up store, I was ecstatic. I kidnapped her on the day of and waited in line for 1.5 hours.

This was a completely new experience for me and I hadn’t expected on having so much fun. The line went around a couple of blocks with Target workers giving out hot chocolate and free merchandise. Score!

By the time we had gotten into the pop up store, anything under a size 10 was a scarcity and my hopes at finding an x-small were low. However, after watching the sales people, my clever co-worker and I devised a strategy that involved us waiting outside the change room and stalking the sales people putting unwanted clothes back on the stacks. Don’t judge me. With the help of my co-worker, I managed to pick up almost everything I had an eye on. Yay!!!

Thanks for following and happy shopping!
